Our Vision Roadmap

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:2

Our 2024 Vision Focus

Discovering God's Purpose

Why We Produce and Publish an Annual Vision statement

God’s Word clearly states our need for “vision.” King Solomon warns of the consequence for not having a vision: “Where there is no vision, the people perish…” (Proverbs 29:18). This truth became reality in Israel’s history during the days of the prophets. Some 400 years after King Solomon wrote that profound verse, God’s people found themselves in very dark and uncertain times. Then God raised up Habakkuk, a prophet who was so burdened for his people that he cried out to God on their behalf (Habakkuk 1:1). Realizing Israel’s need for a vision, Habakkuk waited patiently to hear from the Lord who specifically and clearly set forth a purpose:

And the Lord answered me, and said, “Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.” Habakkuk 2:2

In 2005, Ascent Bible Church “wrote” and “made plain upon tables” its vision which is as vital today as it was then. We continue the process in 2021, creating this statement that outlines our “Faith for Today” vision to guide all facets of our ministry throughout the year – responding to all the opportunities and challenges it brings.

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds. Hebrews 12:2-3

Our hope and prayer is that every person in Ascent Bible Church will read, run with, and embrace our 2021 Vision Principles and Statement for God’s glory and the building of His kingdom, doing so with courage and without growing weary or faint in our minds! We invite all who find this web site and agree with our Vision to consider joining with us in the call to build God’s kingdom, either locally or via our live-streamed services.

This Vision Statement functions as our annual planning document to outline the “2021 Road Map” for Ascent Bible Church as well as serving as our “blueprint” for ministry. Consequently, it defines our vision, describes the structure required to support our vision, outlines our “Road Map” consisting of initiatives and activities in support of our vision, and describes the development and training materials and opportunities we provide with the goal of making “Every Member a Minister.” Accordingly, it:

  • presents our vision and provides an overview of how our church functions for anyone new to our fellowship, and
  • serves to challenge our regular attenders with God’s plan and purpose for their lives.
2022 Perspective

As the social and political upheaval in the world continues, along with society’s and the media’s obsessive focus on Covid-19 and its variant strains, we at Ascent Bible Church choose to look unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2) and set our affection on things above, not on things of the earth, for we are dead (to the world) and our life is hid with Christ in God (Colossians 3:2-3). In His infinite wisdom, God has chosen to bring each of us into the flow of world history “For Such a Time as This.” We are blessed and joyful to be called to answer the challenge of these last days, as the culmination of thousands of years of prophecy is about to be revealed. Our 2022 Road Map reflects our understanding that God’s purpose for Ascent Bible Church and its congregation is to continue pursuing fulfillment of the Great Commission, going into the world making disciples, baptizing them, and teaching them to obey God. We desire with all our hearts to accomplish His purpose.
